NSSThe College has active NSS(National Service Scheme) unit under Programme Officer Dr Purnima Mukherjee, Head, Department of Sanskrit. The NSS unit regularly organizes activities in collaboration with the college Students to generate social, ethical and moral awareness among the students. Our NSS unit participated in:
Awareness programme on the prevention of the diseases like Dengue-Malaria-ChikungunyaAn Awareness Camp on Dengue-Malaria-Chikungunya was held on 16th March 2020 as per the order of The Director of Public Instruction (Memo No: ED-50A/2020) by the NSS- Unit of Dr. B. R. AmbedkarSatabarshikiMahavidyalaya. Many teaching and non-teaching Staffs and the 35 NSS volunteers and other students join the programme with the NSS-Programme Officer Dr.Purnima Mukherjee. NSS volunteers cleaned the College Campus and sprayed the Bleaching powder in the local area. Celebration of World Aids DayAn awareness programme on Aids was organized by the NSS Unit with the collaboration of the Department of Education on 2-12-2019 to celebrate the World’s Aids day. All the teachers and the students along with NSS volunteers took part in this programme. Respected Principal Dr.Chittaranjan Das delivered his valuable lecture on how to be aware to prevent this dangerous disease. Dr.Purnima Mukherjee, NSS P.O. delivered a speech on global HIV and AIDS statistics. The HOD of the department of Education informed the students about the symptoms of AIDS. After the seminar the NSS volunteers, other students and the teaching and non-teaching staffs tied the AIDS ribbon. Social Outreach Programme on Water ConservationA social Outreach Programme on Water conservation was organized with the collaboration of NSS Unit of the college on 16th January 2020 in one of the adopted village named Kola. NSS Programme Officer Dr.Purnimja Mukherjee and Mr.Adhir Roy, HOD of English Departrment guided the programme. Almost 50 NSS volunteers participated in the programme. A lecture on the importance of water conservation was organized in a room of the village primary school where both Dr. Mukherjee and Mr. Roy delivered their speech. Villagers and the teachers of the school were present in that programme. After that the volunteers along with the teachers visited the village tanks and water reservoirs. They guided the villagers how to prevent the misuse of the water. Programme on Free Health-checkup and awareness on vector-borne diseases in adopted villageA programme on free health-check-up of the villagers and awareness on vector-borne diseases was organized in the adopted village of NSS unit named ‘Kumorkhola’ on 8th January 2020. Dr.Debangshu Sarkar of Bagdah hospital was present in that programme with his team. Respected principal Dr.Chittaranjan Das, some teaching and non-teaching staff were present along with the NSS P.O. and volunteers. Many villagers became benefitted by this programme.
