Games & SportsThe Students of this college are always encouraged for Games and Sports. Under the supervision of Games and Sports Coordinator Shri Adhir Roy, Head, Department of English Student are actively involved in Games and Sports. On 28th November 2017 there was an Inter-College Athletics Competition at PGGIP, Banipur, Nortth 24 PGS, West Bengal. In this competition, Chandan Biswas, a student of UG III year of our College got second position in Men’s 5000m race and Barnali Munda, a girl student of III year got first position in Women’s 5000m walk. Our College football team took part in the Inter-College Football (Men’s) tournament at Nahata J. N. M. S. Mahavidyalaya from 2nd October – 4th October 2018 and secured position in the Quarter Final. Besides NSS and Games and Sports students are encouraged to participate in seminars, i.e. Students seminars. On 5th September 2018 eight students of this college participated in a seminar on ‘Education and Empowerment’ organised by the college. To encourage the students to take part in such programmes the College arranged some prizes for the best presenters. The students and staff of this college are always enthusiastic with Games and Sports. This Dept. is jointly looked after by Shri. Adhir Roy, HOD, Dept. of English. Shri. Chandan Biswas, PTT, Dept. of Bengali and Taekwondo trainer, MdJohirul Islam Biswas. This year the Annual Sports of the college was held on 13th to 14th January. Earlier, the Kabaddi Teams (both Men’s and Woman’s) took part in the Inter-College Competition in September, 2019, in B D M, Bongaon and Banipur Womens’ College. On Dec. 11, 2019 Women’s’ Taekwondo team took part in the Inter-College Taekwondo competition in Netaji Satabarshiki Mahavidyalaya, Ashoknagar and bagged four Medals ( Sampa Adhikary - Gold; Bwarnali Munda and Papita Mondal - Silver and Runu Swornokar - Bronze) Later, on January 16, 2020, athlete from the college participated in the Inter-College Athletes Competition at PGGIP, Banipur. On Feb 11, 2020 the College staff cricket team defeated the neighbouring Helencha High School Team at their ground in a friendly match. It was an effort to arouse the feeling of fraternity among the teachers of the two institutions. The hearty enthusiasm of the sports Dept. is well exhibited when any competitor from the college asserts. “I don’t care about being No. 1, but I’m ready and willing to give battle, and that’s what sport is all about.” Sports Calendar : 2022-23, 2023-24 Sports Activities : Till 2021 |
